$85,000 Worth Of Comics Thought Stolen In Tampa Bay, Returned By FedEx

new_force_comics_1Earlier this week, Bleeding Cool reported on Rick Whitelock of New Force Comics in Panama City reporting $85,000 worth of comic book stolen at Tampa Bay Comic Con, including Amazing Fantasy #15, Amazing Spider-Man #1, X-Men #1 and Hulk #1.

Thankfully things went in a luckier direction. After Bleeding Cool ran the story, Whitelock got a mystery call.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that the man wouldn't reveal his name or location but says he had his comic books, and named titles not listed in reports. And had someone ended up with the missing box.

"He saw my sticker that says New Force Comics so he googled us" told the Times"He freaked out when he did, because he saw all these news stories talking about stolen comic books."

Getting the comic books back was harder, the man refused to hand them over in person, or via a nearby comic shop. Instead FedEx was to be the chosen method of transfer.

Well, Rick Whitelock tells Bleeding Cool "I am happy to confirm that my previously missing box of comics is now safely back in my possession. I am so thankful to the power of prayer! I want to thank God, my family and friends, the entire collecting community , the Tampa police department, the Tampa Con staff, as well as all media outlets that helped spread the word and give me positive support. It has been an unbelievably stressful and trying last 5 days, but I am so thankful at the end result. I feel truly blessed"

He also very kindly credits us with getting the story to a wider comics community. Happy to help, sir!
