Brexit Has Made The Vive Even Less Accessible In Britain
There are many things that early adopters have to eat when they pick up new technology. Retail prices before any cuts or discounts is one. However, it seems the Brexit has just made some Vive early adopters a little better.
It's been announced by HTC that the Vive is getting a price hike from £689 to £759 (around $92 increase). In a blog post, HTC said:
HTC continuously monitors and adjusts pricing to ensure we are providing our customers with the best value possible. Due to recent currency valuation changes and the current value of the GBP we are adjusting the price of the HTC Vive in the UK.
Of course, that adjusting price is thanks to the Brexit decision, which has seen the pound plummet. Of course, we aren't out of the EU yet, but that is a case for another day.
This is a shame, because as an owner of a Vive, I'd very like more people to get the experience. However, the headset was already incredibly expensive, and now it is really insane, with an £820 ($1083) price tag with P&P included.
