Christopher Priest Has Got The Rights To Xerø Back – The Original Basketball Player Turned Superhero

Xero_Vol_1_1Bleeding Cool hears that Christopher Priest, or Priest, has regained the rights to Xerø, a comic about a tech secret agent he created for DC Comics and which they have studiously avoided collecting and publishing in the decades since.

And since DC and Marvel are both publishing African-American basketball players-turned-superheroes launching their books in the same month, maybe it’s time for Priest to show them how he did it years ago.

Trane Walker, a professional basketball player, operates secretly as a technologically enhanced “closer” – an agent who can be counted to tie up loose ends in espionage operations, including the elimination of witnesses – in the guise of a masked, blond, white man, code-named “Xero”.

Although the character and stories were creator owned, the comic was set in the DC Universe and featured some aspects of the DC Universe.

Which might have meant its extraction from DC Comics was ever harder than usual.

More as and when it’s revealed…
