According to The Watchers on the Wall, Games of Thrones may be delayed due to the coming of Winter into the story.
The site points to an interview with executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss the UFC Unfiltered podcast, who said they have delayed the start of production on the next season because they actually need inclement weather going forward. “Sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes anymore,” said Weiss. “So we kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim, gray weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot.”
This past season began several weeks later than its traditional early April start. But that was due to an extra stable of HBO shows airing in a late-winter season. Next year may see the show not arriving until summer or even later. And come to think of it, many late-stage HBO shows also end up delayed for various reasons.
Wonder if the late start will get a mention at the Comic-Con panel in a few weeks time…
Game of Thrones returns sometime in 2017.
