Nintendo Were Worried There Would Be Imitators If They Announced The NX At E3

Miyamoto

The secrets of the Nintendo NX have been fairly closely guarded, especially when it comes to official word. Many would have expected the announcement to come at E3, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.

There is a reason for that according to Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto. During a shareholders meeting, the designer claimed that the company chose to postpone the reveak because they were worried over other companies stealing their idea.

Personally, this doesn't ring entirely true for me. It would be incredibly hard for a company, or at least a major one, to steal the idea and have a library set up any time soon. However, if the idea takes off, Sony and Microsoft could certainly make a variation a la PlayStation Move and the Kinect for motion controls. Still, that would be some ways off.
