Giant Days Getting Bigger On Heels Of Eisner Nominations

GiantDays_014_A_MainLast week, I noted a peculiar entry on the week's Top Advance Reorders listGiant Days #15. It's rare enough for a series to get a bump well over a year into its run, even more so that the bump is significant enough to end up on the reorder list. I made a note it might have something to do with the content, but upon deeper digging, it likely has more to do with the series' twin Eisner nominations.
Giant Days is nominated for Best Continuing Series, a category that includes heavyweights like Jason Aaron, Dan Slott, and Robert Kirkman among others. Meanwhile, writer & creator John Allison is up for Best Writer against Aaron, Ed Brubaker, Marjorie Liu, and G. Willow Wilson. The competition in that category will likely be especially fierce. Last year's winners in these categories were Saga and Gene Luen Yang. With nominations in two major categories, interest among retailers and fans appears to be at an all-time high.
Since it's release late last November, Giant Days Volume 1 has sold over 14,000 copies with a healthy jump in reorders since the Eisner nominations. Volume 2 release a little over a month ago and has already sold over 7,500 copies. We, of course, have been telling you Giant Days is fantastic for some time. Now it looks like everyone's is catching on.
