Dallas Comic Show Takes A Hardline Stand Over Unlicensed Fan Art And Prints

Bleeding Cool has run a number of stories regarding people who exhibit at comic shows selling the artwork of others as if it were their own. From the Dallas Comic Show's new exhibitor guidelines for the show floor and artist's alley.

Well, the Dallas Comic Show's new exhibitor guidelines for the show floor and artist's alley take a very hard line. Is this a step too far? Will other shows follow suit? Their website reads,

Tables that are just selling unlicensed fan art prints will not be allowed. If any artist who has purchased a table at a Dallas Comic Show event is caught selling unlicensed prints of copyrighted characters without permission, the show reserves the right to remove that artist from the event without a refund.

and

No bootleg or unlicensed items will be allowed at the show, and items may be subject to review and approval by the promoters or Exhibitor Manager. Any exhibitor selling questionable product may be subject to review by the promoters and removed from the show without refund.
