Could Adam Strange: Planet Heist Become Important?

Last night's Legends of Tomorrow gave us a look at what MIGHT be the season 2 mission. And I'll do my best to avoid spoilers here, but one name was dropped…. a name of a race of people. So if you really don't want to know, go away. Other wise I'm going to talk about a mini-series I loved and how it would be an interesting tie into the new season.

Still here?

Okay, let's talk about Adam Strange: Planet Heist.

The name dropped in the episode is the Thanagarians. And I'm not talking about Hawkman and Hawkgirl. This a possible planet wide threat by an invading alien army. And the Adam Strange series Planet Heist by Andy Diggle and Pascal Ferry was one of the best book put out by DC at the time. A sci-fi mystery on a planetary scale that included an entire planet going missing. I raced into the comic shop each week that this title shipped.

The 8-issue series shows Strange at a time that he's ready to abandon Earth and move to Rann permanently to live his life with his wife and child. Except the zeta beam to take him to Rann never shows and he is desperate to find his family and his adopted world.

So what if they person that is either coming in at the end of the season or is the new cast member is Adam Strange? If they are going up against Thanagar, then he would be a great choice for the team. They could easily take the series much more galactic with his addition. I don't know if they would bring on the whole Rann-Thanagar war, but him siding with the Waverider team in hopes of discovering where Rann disappeared to… could make for a fun second season.

Plus, it would put the Hawks in a very interesting position if they made the Thanagar and Nth metal connection.

Yes, this is total speculation. But either way, the series is a great read and worth picking up either in the collected edition or digitally.
