"Faith – Her Story Isn't Finished" – Alan Moore's Feature Film, The Show, Very Close To Happening (VIDEO)

This coming week, Mitch Jenkins will be filming a new Show Pieces film both written by and co-starring Alan Moore. It will feature Moore's character from Show Pieces, Frank Metterton and Nicky Matchbright played by Robert Goodman, two characters who are both God and the Devil, creatures pretending to be God and the Devil and two old-school music hall end-of-the-pier comedians who now run a talent show at at working men's club.

I have been told to expect something like Derek & Clive.

Alan Moore and Mitch Jenkins took to a Q&A yesterday with host Charles Shaar Murray at the Barbican talking through the origins of the films and the future of their plans together. I've added video of the event below.

They gave us the news that a feature film is very close to happening, and confirmed that a television series is planned to follow it. Show Pieces is all intended to take place over one Friday night in November and the film begins on the Saturday morning when "a hilarious mix-up ensues".

They talked about the reverse-product placement in the film, how it will spin-off into real life products. That the vodka brand seen in Act Of Faith is called Tunguska after the meteor strike location with the strapline "It'll flatten you". That the people behind the planned Fuel Rods energy drink spinoff will be Monster. Later in the bar, Robert Goodman told me that the matches are called "Lucifer" – and that this used to be a nickname for matches, immortalised in the music hall song "Pack Up Your Troubles" in the line "While you've a lucifer to light your fag, Smile, boys, that's the style." Now it will be a brand.

Alan was also asked about in the Q&A about aspects of the film Act Of Faith that have proved problematic to some. He states,

It's all entirely consensual, her act of bondage and roleplay. We didn't mean to suggest there was a moral attitude. This wasn't like those horror films, where the couple who have sex are going to die first because they've had sex and then it will probably be the black guy. We're not subscribing to that. Faith is just a young woman, she's got certain issue in her past as with all of us tend to direct and colour her behaviour. She just gets unlucky, the way that some people do and she ends up in this this dreadful dream club. Now I don't want to give any spoilers away but Faith… her story isn't finished. She is one of the main continuing characters and so we definitely weren't trying to imply she's died and gone to hell because she did rude things, that wasn't what we are saying. This is a part of normal life…

Watch the full Q&A here. Alan's spoken word is always best listened to, especially for nuances of meaning. He always uses each medium to its fullest.
