No R-Rated Cartoons For Marvel, But They Do Have A Snapchat ID – The House Of Ideas Panel At C2E2

Brian Keohan writes for Bleeding Cool,

The Marvel House of Ideas panel focused on the various digital platforms for Marvel's properties. The panel was hosted by Ryan Penagos, with editors Tom Breevort and Jordan D White, and writer Robbie Tompson and artist Todd Nauck.

Ironically enough, the panel began with tech problems. As their techs worked to connect their computer, Jordan White entertained the crowd with ukulele renditions of the 90s X-Men theme and the classic Spider-Man cartoon theme.

They began with an explanation of Marvel Unlimited, their online monthly digital comics service. Marvel Universe Plus includes the normal service, but adds bonus physical content such as an action figure. It also includes special panels at conventions, including an exclusive panel at C2E2.

Next they talked about Marvel games, starting with Battlegrounds, the new Marvel Disney Infinity play set.

Lego Avengers was up next, with a nice trailer showing content for the season pass. The trailer was clearly inspired by Captain America : Civil War as the Avengers faced off against each other.

The panel now switched to the Women of Power initiative, with Marvel's women getting focus across all of Marvel's properties, including added content for all of their various video games and special variant covers for the comics this month.

It wa them time to talk about Marvel.com video content. The What The?, Marvel 101, Marvel Minute, and Ask Marvel shows were all discussed, and a clip from each show played.

2016-03-18 16.31.13They also announced a new show, Thwip! which will be a show like the Watcher show, but mixed with Marvel live events.

2016-03-18 16.32.46

It was finally time for Robbie Thompson and Todd Nauck to contribute to the panel as they discussed Infinite Comics and specifically their Spider-Man and Silk time travel story. The story includes Uncle Ben in action and introduces Chronosaurus Rex, a time traveler in T-Rex armor.

They also talked about the Year of Marvels, an Infinite series that focuses on a different Marvel character every month. March is Ant-Man at spring break.

Thompson then talked about his two books, Silk and Spidey. Silk is currently working undercover with Black Cat, and maybe beginnig to enjoy it a bit too much. Spidey is the "younger readers" book, but is a great book for old fans who want younger Spidey stories, and for new fans coming from the Marvel movies (as Spider-Man enters the MCU).

Marvel now has a snapchat, MarvelHQ, but they all joke that they don't know what that means.

2016-03-18 16.44.37

That ends the official panel, so they take a few questions.

The first fan asks what is everyone's favorite What If story. Jordan D White says the one where the Fantastic Four all the same powers. Thompson loves the Wolverine versus Conan story. Brevoort loves the story when the Marvel Bullpen becomes the Fantastic Four.

See, some people at Marvel love the Fantastic Four. If only they were allowed to publish them…

Any plans for Madelyne Pryor? Not right now, but surely something will come along for her eventually.

Any plans for more adult content cartoons? There are no plans for rated R cartoons. Brevoort says that the Marvel cartoons don't need adult content to be Marvel type stories and the current Disney shows appeal to adults already.

Any Kaine/Scarlet Spider stories coming up? Slott left his fate open in Spider-verse, so he likely has an idea, but nothing announced right now.

Did Secret Wars change to reflect FF movie? Brevoort says that Jonathan Hickman just misjudged the length of the story, so the issue length was expanded. Nothing was really changed, and certainly not to reflect anything with the Fantastic Four movie.
