The official Guardians of the Galaxy Twitter account posted this image not long ago of the team seemingly taking the stage.
The photo accompanies a press release announcing the commencement of principle photography. According to the press release, the film will follow the team as they “unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.”
It also confirmed Kurt Russell has signed onto the movie along with Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Chris Sullivan. Russell’s name first popped up in December. At the time, he said he had not seen the first film and would do so before making a decision. Many assumed he will be Peter’s father. Klementieff was tipped to be playing Mantis, the uneasy ship’s counselor.
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel return as the Guardians with Karen Gillan reprising her role as Nebula and Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn returns as Ravagers Yandu and Kraglin.
Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens on May 5th, 2017.
