Xbox Boss Explains Scalebound Was Delayed Because Console Line Up Was Too Dense

Scalebound was delayed right at the start of this year, pushing the Xbox One exclusive out of 2016. Why did that happen?

Well, one reason was that it could use more development time, but Xbox's senior marketing director Aaron Greenberg, has also claimed in an interview with IGN, that Scalebound would have struggled to find breathing space in Xbox's first party line up. With Quantum Break, Inside, Crackdown 3, Below, Gears of War 4, Cuphead, Killer Instinct Season 3 and Sea of Thieves (and probably a Forza Horizon) all set to come this year, it's not impossible to see why.

Greenberg added:

As we're looking at the lineup for this year, and where [the team at Platinum Games] are [with Scalebound] — what their aspirations are; that game is super-aspirational, we want to be able to give them enough time and resources to do that.

So strategically, give it time to breathe. Let's make sure we can give it enough space. First and foremost, always make sure the game is great.

This does make sense and Microsoft do need to spread out their exclusives, and more game development time will make sure Scalebound should be ready when it comes around.
