Mad Max: Fury Road Receives Academy Award Nomination For Best Picture

2889912-mad+max+website+01The 2016 Academy Award nominations were announced earlier this morning and Mad Max: Fury Road has received a Best Picture nomination. The action picture rides historic to become one of the first to be recognized by the Academy. Director George Miller also received a nomination for Best Director. The film received a total of ten award nominations.

Sylvester Stallone was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Rocky Balboa in Creed, forty years after the first Rocky brought the actor and writer to the Academy’s attention. Curiously, it is the film’s only nomination.

The Revenant took the lead with twelve nominations with films like Brooklyn, and Spotlight were also being recognized. Star Wars: The Force Awakens earning a number of awards in the technical categories.
