Most of the time when I watch TV, I have a good idea what is coming. I see the set up tricks writers do because I use them myself. It is very rare I get surprised by network television. Last night I was surprised on a few occasions starting with the death in the first few minutes. I wasn’t even really into the show yet. I had just finished watch the Flash, flipped channels and grabbed another drink when I’m seeing Coulson and Rosalind having dinner. My only thought being “that seems kind of awkward after last episode”. And then a gunshot and death. And I sat mouth slightly agape watching Action Coulson do his thing.

Maybe that threw me off and the rest of you all watched the show knowing exactly what was going to happen before it did… but they had knocked me off my game. Coulson’s reaction and who he named as acting director of SHIELD was also a surprise. What happened to Fitz and Simmons wasn’t but how it happened was. And I’m going to have to go and re-watch the ending just to see what Coulson did at the end again. But hey, at least we have the Secret Warriors now… and we learned a very important lesson. Don’t piss off Phil Coulson.

Next week is the fall-finale and here is the trailer.
