According to Deadline, Fox is developing a television series based on the character of John Rambo, played by Sylvester Stallone in the four movies based on David Morrell‘s novel First Blood. Stallone is attached as an executive producer, but it is unclear if he will play the character.
The series, to be written by Die Hard and The Fugitive vet Jeb Stuart, will explore “the complex relationship between Rambo and his son, J.R., an ex-Navy SEAL.” J.R. is an invention of the potential series as Rambo barely had any time to do anything but kill opponents in the films. Based on the log line, Deadline assumes Stallone’s character will be an integral part of the show should it make it to air.
Curiously, this is not the first time Rambo has attempted to infiltrate television. Rights holder Nu Image/Millenium Films and eOne teamed up in 2013 on another Rambo TV project. Both are involved in New Blood.
