How This Week's Midnighter Reunited Grant Morrison With Warren Ellis (SPOILERS)

Wednesday saw the launch of the new James Bond comic by Warren Ellis and the Santa Claus origin comic Klaus by Grant Morrison.

But it wouldn't be the only thing that joined them together that day.

Midnighter, was a character created by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch back in the Stormwatch days. A Batman analogue, and the partner of Superman analogue, Apollo.

The character was reinvented in the NEw 52 but in his recent ongoing series, has veered a lot closer to the original take on the character, with plenty of splendid storytelling. Including a big bad the man doing all the manipulation.

And in this week's Midnighter #6, in a final page reveal, we discovered who.

Who?

Prometheus was created by Grant Morrison and Arnie Jorgensen in the Justice League spinoff New Year's Evil: Prometheus.

He won a competition to join the JLA for a day as the character Retro, secretly planning to destroy the League.

He is very much the anti-Batman, with a similar life story to Bruce Wayne, his parents killed police officers, leading him travel the world training himself, before encountering alien technology to build a headquarters in a dimensional void.

He failed in his initial attempt to kill the league, foiled unexpectedly by Catwoman, before joining Lex Luthor's Injustice Gang.

And now one anti-Batman is trying to take down another Batman analogue. Basically it's Ellis Vs Morrison, written by Steve Orlando…
