Remakes Aren't In EA's Culture Says EA Head

EA LogoThere has been a real abundance remakes since the new generation consoles. Some have been lovingly done, others not so much, but most people agree there is probably just a few too many. We'd like to see developers kick on a little and make new products.

It seems EA COO Peter Moore agrees. In a recent interview with IGN, when asked about a Mass Effect remake, he said:

It feels like pushing stuff out because you've run out of ideas.

Remakes, because of who we are, and this broad portfolio of intellectual property…you add all that together, I don't know where we find the time to do remakes. We're a company that just likes to push forward.

For a lot of companies, remakes are a way to drive revenue. It's sub-cost, it's an IP that's there, you can remaster, and that's great. We don't do that here. I don't think that's ever been in our culture.

Honestly, it does seem like the sheer number of remakes we are getting at the moment are becoming much less frequent. I'd much rather see the company focus on Mass Effect: Andromeda  than compile a trilogy remake. Although, the latter would also be a nice at some point…
