Valiant: 25 Years Of Death And Beyond At NYCC '15

Valiant had an earlier panel during New York Comic Con, where they released the majority of their news. In the panel I went to, while not a rehashing of what people already knew, there wasn't a great deal of new information. The panelists came on stage; a couple of the writers and Valiant's CEO, to discuss the books and what to look forward to following Book of Death.

Promising ramification for years to come, Book of Death is quickly coming to a close. "Absolutely enormous consequences", while a bold claim, is certainly something I can see being the case. Once Book of Death ends however, one of the most important books to come out will apparently be Wrath of the Eternal Warrior, with Gilad becoming one of the top five most important characters in Valiant!

For Ninjak fans, the next story arc is called "Operation Deadside", and will feature the long-awaited return of Shadowman! Valiant readers have been asking for a while about Shadowman and when he'd appear again; the cries were heard and apparently Valiant was only biding its time. With a new costume for Ninjak and writer Matt Kindt's newest character, Ember, debuting, a lot is going to be occuring in Ninjak.

Then you have Faith, written by Jody Houser. Featuring Faith as the protagonist (duh), the book focuses on her being out her own and about being alone in the world as an adult.

An interesting tidbit that developed throughout the course of the panel was that Valiant was teaming-up with CGC to make a replica variant series. The covers will feature the Valiant's title characters on the front of their books, breaking the fourth wall in rather comedic fashion. These are definitely going to be cool covers to pick up along the way!

Archer and Armstrong are coming back in a new ongoing series. The general plot features Armstrong getting lured into his bag by Bacchus, who may or may not be an actual god, leaving Archer to jump in and rescue his friend.

Doctor Mirage is getting some love too, with the central theme asking whether you can maintain love and a relationship where touch is no longer a factor.

Then there's Rai. When we last saw Rai, things weren't looking too good for him, having been cast out of New Japan and left for dead. Even though he's survived, Rai finds himself stranded and so embarks on a journey around the Earth, trying to "grow up", with the ulterior goal of attempting to discover a way back to New Japan.

Last but not least, you have Bloodshot and Divinity II. Bloodshot 10 flash forwards thirty years into the future, presenting a world gone to hell. However, get ready for two Bloodshot-themed events: Bloodshot Island and VS. Nothing has been released about either series, except that they will be coming out in 2016.

Divinity II deals with the other two astronauts that also went on that fateful mission, but were left behind. The past will revisit Abram Adams and not in a good way.

If you're a Valiant fan, old or new, now is the time! Pick up these books wherever and whenever you can. I can tell you, Valiant is doing some great stuff right now and that trend will only continue!
