NYCC '15: Live! The Marvel Agents Of Primetime Panel With Jeff Loeb, Clark Gregg, And More(UPDATE)

Jeff Loeb introduced the panel, reminding that NYCC was the place where Marvel announced their "first television series, Marvel: Agents of SHIELD". He thanked NYCC for coming up with the title of the panel which was the "Agents of….whatever". He said he was interested in the New York City crowds and their desire to be "expressive". The panel was slated to talk about Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, but also about Marvel's Agent Carter, he said, to wild applause.

IMG_3429Clark Gregg joined the stage to chants of "Coulson". He joked that he heard his "theme music" which prompted his appearance. Loeb asked him to depart for a while after arriving prematurely, with the threat of showing some Carter footage. "None of this happens without you", Loeb said to the audience, and added, "The reason we come to New York Comic Con is because of you". He revealed that they are currently on production of their 50th episode. Two people he cited as making sure the show happened were Dan Buckley, and Joe Quesada, and other people he works with on a "day to day basis" who are "extraordinary".

The panel announced the cast for the season including Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett), Dr. Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin), and more. Howard Stark will be returning despite some jokes that he wouldn't be. A clip from Season 2 was shown for Agent Carter where Peggy and Jarvis explored Tony Stark's car, which reached "depths of depravity" in Bond-esque features geared toward sexual conquest.

IMG_3430Turning to Agents of SHIELD, and allowing Clark Gregg to return to the stage, the audience was allowed to throw out some Q and A…

Gregg was asked what he thought of being told they were going to include Inhumans plotlines because of the Marvel films, he said he thought it was "topical" and that was cool to him. He said it was introduced in a "scary" way and having a team who have accents who are hard to understand, and a hacker who needed to be an agent, and even Grant Ward, another "complex" character, was a way of building a new set of characters in the Marvel Universe.

Loeb said we're going to be exploring "humanity" this season, which will be exciting.

IMG_3431Gregg said that the Mutants are in a "terrifying realm" called the copyright realm, and someday we'll be in a world where fandoms can "peacefully interact", to wild applause. He joked about a Deadpool crossover, too.

They then showed a "43 minute clip" of Agents of SHIELD, episode 303 to air next Tuesday…

And it was absolutely spectacular–wait for Rich Johnston's report on the episode. Gregg and Loeb returned briefly to pay tribute to their showrunners, supporters, and special effects team before concluding the rather epic panel.
