Kingdom Bum, Six Years From Small Press To… Slightly Bigger Press

On Monday June 27th, 2011, Adam Wollett wrote on the Kingdom Bum blog,

"I've got an idea — imagine Lord of the Flies, but with bums."

That's how this all started. About two years ago I uttered that simple sentence to my good friend Rick Marshall. What followed turned out to be a whirlwind collaboration of great fun, moments of depression, and epic battles over line after line of dialogue.

That original idea has been lovingly molded (okay, sometimes beaten) into something much more than simply "Lord of the Flies, but with bums". This blog is an attempt to document the trials and tribulations of making Kingdom Bum a reality.

Their last post was on February 8th, 2012, after showing off some previewed, coloured, lettered pages.

A year ago, the comic had been printed.

And at San Diego Comic Con this year…

And so in December's Previews? From Action Lab: Danger Zone

STK691643

It's Game of Thrones with cardboard homes as this wild new series brings an inner city's hidden world to life in contemporary fantasy style! First Coast City's homeless suffer under the thumb of tyrant, Philip the Ax. As the seeds for a violent coup begin to sprout, it falls to benevolent vagabond Simon to try to stave off war and bring peace back to the alleys.

Quite the journey! But a possible road map for others…
