In sophomore year I took a screenplay writing class and I knew I wanted to write a superhero story that hasn't been told before. I am now a senior in college ready to graduate and I am in the works of publishing the second issue of my comic book Like Father, Like Daughter.

Why is Like Father, Like Daughter something you haven't read before? Like Father, Like Daughter is about a sixteen-year-old girl named Casey Ryder. She is your average high school student except for the fact that her father left her at a young age to become a full time superhero. Everyone loves Invulnerable because he is the only superhero in the world, but Casey knows his true colors.

The series follows Casey's story, the girl who was left behind for the greater good. She sees Invulnerable as a deadbeat dad. He becomes a superhero celebrity rather than take real responsibilities as a father.

In issue one Casey finds out that she has inherited her father's powers. She has become her own worst enemy. Now she has to figure out what to do with these powers. She has heroic instincts, but she can't be a hero because that was the very reason her father left her.

8-e1441657634493Like Father, Like Daughter plays with superhero tropes. There are plenty of superhero references, but it's also a story about father and daughter. The series is very character driven and there are a lot twist and turns to come. This comic book will go to places that you won't expect.

Issue one had a successful Kickstarter with 100 backers and earned over $6000. Last week ShortFuseMedia and I launched the Kickstarter for Like Father, Like Daughter #2. If we reach $4,500 by October 10th Like Father, Like Daughter #2 will be published. We will then start working on Like Father, Like Daughter #3.

Bleeding Cool was nice enough to allow us to have the chance to spread the word about the Kickstarter. If we reach $3000 by September 19th Bleeding Cool will get a cameo in the Like Father, Like Daughter universe. The cameo will either be in the main comic or in our webcomic.

As an added perk for anyone who comments on this article by September 19th I will pick at random to give away a digital copy of Like Father, Like Daughter #1.

A Refreshing Take on the Superhero Genre – Like Father, Like DaughterI hope you get the chance to check out the Like Father, Like Daughter #2 Kickstarter. In issue issue 2 you will learn more about Casey's powers and find out if Wes, the walking superhero wikipedia, discovers that Casey is the daughter of Invulnerable.
