From First Light To The Enemy Within: The Wild’s End Story Continues

In 2014, award-winning publisher BOOM! Studios invited readers to the sleepy village of Lower Crowchurch at the cusp of a violent, otherworldly invasion in the critically acclaimed Wild’s End, an anthropomorphic mashup of Wind in the Willows and War of the Worlds. This September, creators Dan Abnett (Guardians of the Galaxy) and I.N.J. Culbard (The King in Yellow) team up once more, this time drawing influence from Invasion of the Body Snatchers in the paranoia-fueled follow-up series Wild’s End: The Enemy Within.

Most of you probably remember the intense ending of the series. Now the story continues… As Clive, Susan, Fawkes, and the other survivors of the alien invasion of Lower Crowchurch try to cope with what just happened to their small town, the military arrives in an attempt to cover up the “incident.” Town residents are immediately detained, questioned, and treated with suspicion. Are they alien spies, collaborators, sympathizers? Clive and the rest will need to escape imprisonment if they’re to get the word out and warn the rest of the world before the aliens return.

BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon spoke about the series, saying,

I think Dan and Ian surprised a lot of readers last year with the first Wild’s End series. They created these wonderful characters that we connected with so quickly, and they ended the story on such a frightening note we had to know what happened next! I can’t recommend this series enough. Pick up the first trade and jump on board The Enemy Within as soon as possible!

I was fortunate enough to get a look at the first issue of the new Wild’s End series before I did an interview with the creative team for the latest issue of Bleeding Cool Magazine (which is now available at your local comic book store.) As a big fan of the initial run of the series, I was thrilled to find out that they were continuing. The cast of characters is so unique and the story itself is a page turner.

Readers can pick up the trade paperback for Wild’s End: First Light on September 30th for $19.99 under Diamond order code JUL151082. The Final Order Cutoff deadline for retailers is September 7th. Wild’s End: The Enemy Within #1 (of 6) arrives in comic shops on September 23rd.
