Since revealing himself as the Joker in Warner Bros’ upcoming Suicide Squad a ways back, Jared Leto has really embedded himself in the character — even if that character turns out to be someone else. Part of his process is offering joke gifts to his co-stars, including this curious package Jay Hernandez received and posted to his Instagram account:
So let’s see: a pack of playing cards, something wrapped in newspaper and a letter addressed to Hernandez’s character, El Diablo. Hmm … It’s still unclear what might be in that newspaper, but the hashtag might be a clue. Previously, Leto sent bullets to Will Smith, referencing Deadshot, and sent Margot Robbie a live rat. I guess the Joker, if he is Joker, should play up in-jokes that only matter to himself.
Suicide Squad arrives in theaters August 5th, 2016. Maybe we’ll be let in on the joke by that point.
