Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 16th August 2015 – Secret Wars Beats Batman. Just.

Secret-Wars-5-cover1This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.

It was tight at the top. But Secret Wars beat out Batman. Just. And with Walking Dead right behind and a string launch for DC Bombshells and Beauty, it was a big week for a lot of stores…

  • 1. Secret Wars #5
  • 2. Batman #43
  • 3. Walking Dead #145
  • 4. Lando #2
  • 5. A-Force #3
  • 6. DC Bombshells #1
  • 7. Starfire #3
  • 8. Amazing Spider-Man #20.1
  • 9. Beauty #1
  • 10. Star Trek Green Lantern #2

Thanks to the following retailers,

Who had this to say,

DC takes 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place with strong showings from Batman, DC Comics Bombshells, and Starfire, but neither of this week's Superman: Truth installments managed to crack our top ten

Strong sales of pre-hero Marvel books this week; also an increased interest in early Doctor Strange appearances in Strange Tales.

Great week with Batman, Secret Wars, and Star Wars Lando out. No complaints this week.

It was quite the slugfest, but in the end, even The Walking Dead and The Dark Knight couldn't match up to Marvel's Secret Wars. Despite the delays, that book is still bringing people in, and boosting the sales of many of the tie ins as well. Snyder and Capullo can do no wrong for our customers, and the DC Bombshells series brought in a ton of new people as well! Lando's starting to become the sleeper hit of the Star Wars line as well.

Lots of people are now coming in for Civil War stuff. Even with the movie less than a year away, we get people non stop looking for the trade and tie in trades as well. The new DC Blu Ray double packs have been getting a ton of traction as well.

Things are back to normal after the last few weeks. Batman at the top of the charts like normal, check. A Marvel event book selling steady, check. Walking Dead selling the right #'s, check. Oh wait a new Image book that people actually cared about and sold out in the first 2 days, way to go Beauty #1.

Usual suspects on the back-issue front. Anything Batman, Harley Quinn and Deadpool is continuing to move. Actually saw some some Amazing Spider-Man #1's from last year move this week, quite the surprise since it has to be the worst cover in comic history, way to go completist's .

Big issues sold like crazy this week. Our #3 seller did around half the numbers of #1 & #2. No real surprises in most of the list. Justice League United and Howard the Duck charting being the exceptions.

More even list than weeks past, 5 Marvel, 3 DC, 2 Image.

Despite the popularity of Wicked + Divine, Phonogram sat on the shelf untouched for the most part.

Bombshells might have made the list but we ended up underordering and sold out on Wednesday.

Blew right through the Black Science TPBs.
