Last Week's Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 16th July 2015

Batman (2011-) 042-004

Sorry, San Diego Comic Con got on top of me – expect this week's list on the weekend as usual! Batman takes the top, as is traditional, denying another Star Wars top spot for Marvel, but JLA is holding its own against Secret Wars and the Invader Zim launch from Oni even sneaks in….

  • 1. Batman #42
    2. Star Wars: Lando #1
    3. Justice League of America #2
    4. Civil War #1
    5. Age of Apocalypse #1
    6. Walking Dead #144
    7. Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #2
    8. Saga #30
    9. Archie #1
    10. Invader Zim #1

Thanks to the following stores

  • Who had this to say,

Not a bad week. Nothing really exciting to report. 1872 1 Secret Wars caught me by surprise. Did really well and I under ordered on it.

SDCC is in full swing and customers came in with a vengeance. Lando #1 lead the way with the top spot. However the top 6 spots were all books that sold 100 copies or more. Invader Zim #1 might have hit #7 if i had ordered more and since i forgot that i put them in a different box i still have copies on the shelf. Should be a record week even though i missed the record day by a c-note and change.

Archie's new relaunch proved successful, as our typical Archie sales of 1 increased to about 10. Lots of interest in the Waid and Staples relaunch, but lots of customers are wondering how long they'll be on the book (especially Staples).
Still getting people coming in and picking up Star Wars titles. The Force is strong with Marvel, and it's only going to get stronger when more Star Wars movies are announced.

With Image, Marvel, and DC releasing their big dogs this week, the top ten was a battle, but in the end Snyder and Capullo's Batman came out on top, narrowly beating out the mighty Walking Dead. Lando didn't do nearly as well as even Kanan or Leia here, but it's getting pretty strong word of mouth, so I'm expecting a lot of people to come back for it. I was surprised that Civil War wasn't higher than it was. Invader Zim cracking the Top Ten was a surprise. Had tons of new customers coming in looking for it.

Being here in San Diego all back-issues are moving, but i have to say i sold a ton of G.I Joe exclusives which was not what i expected.

Aquaman back issues is kicking butt all the sudden from every decade of Aquaman. Spiderman back issues from the first series starting to see some love again.

Invader Zim cracked the top ten for us–and a lot of those readers were people who aren't hard-core comics fans. Batman surpassed Justice League, while Renew Your Vows #2 was far and away the best-selling Marvel book, proving once again that fans really want to see the REAL Spider-Man–the Peter Parker who's married to Mary Jane!

Strong interest in early Angela appearances, and solid sales of mid-80s Marvels and DC's. Fans seem to have a new appreciation for the pre-Secret Wars Marvel Universe and the pre-Crisis DCU.

Increase in Walking Dead sales this week directly down to the Bleeding Cool article on it. Doubled opening day number and sold out fast.
