Canada Claims USA's Most Precious Icon In We Stand On Guard

Today sees the launch of We Stand On Guard. It takes place in the aftermath of a missile strike on Canada by the USA, and for those of a sensitive American disposition, we ask that you move on. This image may include imagery and ideas that some may find rather offensive.

First an encounter, a century and a half away, with a familiar symbol.

As we have seen so very vividly in the last few days, certain symbols can express and embody so much that their presence and absence can have a very emotional and visceral response indeed.

But there's always room for certain symbols to be reclaimed by those who have been oppressed by them.

So it's not likely that writer  Brian K Vaughan will be working for DC Comics any time soon. Or indeed Warner Bros. As if he ever was… time for a geographical analogy.

So, basically, the writer of We Stand Alone seems to think that the artists is the most important! And looking at Steve Skroce's work on this book we can see why. And if you are looking for a T-shirt image or a Facebook profile… this will probably do it.

Those seeking affirmation of their nationality from history, however it needs to be interpreted…
