We get a lot of strange stories in here that are loosely tied to the comic industry. This one is rather unique. Spencer Beck, president of The Artists’ Choice has been an original art sales representative for 30 years with clients including Steve McNiven, George Perez, Mark Bagley, John Romita Jr, David Finch and Andy & Adam Kubert. So Beck knows a thing or two about original comic art.
His company has gotten a new task. They’ve been selected to assist a well-funded group of collectors who are looking to buy high-quality classic artwork from the 60’s through the early 90’s as well as pre-1989 comic books. And they’ve been given a budget of over $1 Million to do it with more available depending on the collection.
The art they are looking for ranges from the legends Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Jim Steranko, Curt Swan, Gil Kane, Carmine Infantino, Mike Sekowski, Wally Wood, Nick Cardy, Don Heck, Gene Colon, John Romita, Frank Frazetta – to the greats whose careers began in the ’60’s, 70’s and 80’s, including Neal Adams, Barry Windsor Smith, John Buscema, Jim Starlin, Don Heck, Ross Andru, Jim Aparo, Frank Brunner, Walter Simonson, Mike Grell, Dave Cockrum, Ernie Chan, Bernie Wrightson, John Byrne, Irv Novick, Rich Buckler, Dick Dillin, Alfredo Alcala, Ernie Chan, Marshall Rogers, Frank Miller, George Perez, Paul Gulacy, Terry Austin, Paul Smith, John Romita, Jr., Alan Davis, Mike Zeck, and into the ‘90’s great artists which include, but is not limited to Marc Silvestri, Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee, John Cassaday, Tim Sale, Matt Wagner, Mark Texeira, Adam Hughes, Frank Cho, J. Scott Campbell, Mike Mignola and beyond, to include all other artists who helped define those eras.”
Beck adds that his goal in aiding these new clients with their search is simple. “I’m planning on applying the same business principles I’ve always followed for my clients and customers. So if you have high-quality classic original art pages or comics, I promise to do everything I can to provide a hassle-free transaction while delivering the same quality of service I always have offered to my customers and the artists I represent.
