IDW Dives Into Fantasy Gaming With Awesome Kingdom: Tower of Hateskull

Prepare yourself for IDW Games' first entry into fantasy gaming with Awesome Kingdom: Tower of Hateskull. From legendary game designer Kevin Wilson (Descent, Arkham Horror, X-Files), Awesome Kingdom: Tower of Hateskull is an over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek, sword-in-hand dungeon-crawling card game. This fast paced card game is for two to four players, and centers around the goal to be the most awesome hero after three days of adventuring. Players will be able to choose from eight epic characters including, Ragebarian, Prestidigimancer, or Paladude. While battling ferocious beasts and avoiding traps, players will also have to cleverly outmaneuver one another. The main goal being to emerge from the tower with the biggest haul and best trophies.

Game Designer Kevin Wilson spoke about his inspiration for the game:

Awesome Kingdom is inspired by my youngest experiences with roleplaying games. It's the sort of thing I dreamed up while eating sugar-frosted cereal and watching Saturday-morning cartoons in the '80s. I tried to channel that sense of unrestrained fun, and Tower of Hateskull is the result.

I enjoy the idea of a fantasy game that has a comical side to it. It reminds me of Munchkin. I also think it's smart that there's a three day time limit of adventuring. The characters sound incredibly intriguing, and with Wilson's inspiration to back it all, it seems like this game will be a great time. Look for Awesome Kingdom: Tower of Hateskull to hit stores in July 2015. In the meantime, IDW Games will unveil more details about the card game on www.idwgames.com.
