Hotline Miami Gets Hot Collector's Edition

By Jared Cornelius

As an insane person who still gets excited for boxed releases of games, I'm always on the lookout for odd titles that fly under the traditional retail radar.  So I was extremely excited to see that one of my favorite games is potentially getting a special edition thanks to small company called Gamer's Edition.  The boutique outlet has partnered with Dennaton Games to put together a special edition of both Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number.  The pixelated overhead action puzzle games take place in the late 80's and early 90's and feature a brutal and dark story revolving around a series of grisly murders.  Not exactly what you'd call retail friendly, but Gamer's Edition wants to sell you a copy, with a caveat.  Before Game's Edition will start producing the collector's editions they need a certain number of pre-orders before they'll commit to the project.

CONTENTS

The physical release is a little pricy at $60 dollars US, but justifies it's price tag with a hefty special edition that includes:

*DVD copies of Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number with a custom manual
*Steam copies of Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
*An 80 page trade paperback
*A custom duel sided postcard
*A cassette mix tape of the soundtrack with fake blood splatter on the exterior
*5 collectable cameo cards
*A stencil of the 50 Blessings Gang logo
*A special edition box to house all the contents

BOX

Gamer's Edition are currently at the halfway point and need a little over 1000 more pre-orders at the time of writing.  If successful they plan on shipping in August of this year, with the exception of Australia who banned Hotline Miami 2 after it was refused classification in the land down under.  Gamer's Edition creates their special editions in part with a company called Idea Planet, whose work on collector's editions has included the Songbird statue from the limited edition of Bioshock Infinite, the Master Chief helmet from Halo 3, and the RC Claptrap from Borderlands: The Handsome Jack Collection.  Curious fans should head over to Gamer's Edition's website to learn more, I should note that you won't be charged for pre-ordering until the project is confirmed.

Jared Cornelius is some guy from the Jersey coast who already pre-order this and is disclosing it fully.  If you'd like to disclose what you're doing, contact him on Twitter @John_Laryngitis.
