The Bleed Episode 2-1: Reading Moon Knight Vol. 1 With Frank J. Barbiere

By Joseph Kyle Schmidt

The Bleed is a weekly book club by Bleeding Cool contributors Joseph Schmidt and Sam Morse. The group meets Wednesdays on Google Hangout to discuss news, the latest comics, creator interviews and the pick of the week.

We're back from our Winter Break and BETTER THAN EVER! To help us kick off the New Year, we brought on Frank Barbiere. If you haven't heard of Frank, go back and relive the year 2014 because you were obviously doing something wrong.

Frank writes the extremely successful Five Ghosts from Image Comics, as well as Solar, Man of the Atom for Dynamite/Gold Key, and Avengers World for Marvel among many others. We talk to Frank about his love of comics and why he does what he does, how he plans to top his amazing year in 2014, and the status of the Five Ghosts pilot over at the SyFy Network (or is it Sci-Fi?).

This week, we are discussing the excellent Marvel relaunch of Moon Knight by Warren Ellis, Declan Shalvey, and Jordie Bellaire. Six issues of done-in-one fun, yet weaving a greater tapestry in the complex life of Marc Spector, Moon Knight is one of the best releases of 2014. Want to hear the guys geek out? OF COURSE YOU DO!

You can download us if you're on the go here, and iTunes users can subscribe to the podcast.

Next week we will be discussing Scalped with our great friend James Asmus! So join in and hear us crack jokes, that's really all we're good at. Chime in with your own thoughts with #thebleedbc, send some recommendations to bleed.bookclub@gmail.com, and check out The Bleed's Archives for old episodes!
