Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 7th December 2014 – DC Pushes Marvel Down

STK658311This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the Wednesday Warriors, those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.

Batman Eternal takes it's natural spot at the top of the charts, followed by Detective Comics, both denying Marvel's Angela the top spot. But it's Image Comics' Birthright still doing monster numbers that impresses the most this week…

  1. Batman Eternal #35
  2. Detective #37
  3. Angela #1
  4. Earth 2: Worlds End  #29
  5. Birthright #3
  6. Grayson #5
  7. Secret Six #1
  8. Thanos/Hulk #1
  9. Green Lantern #37
  10. New 52 Futures End 31

Who had this to say

Birthright Beats out Angela by 1 comic.  Chew Takes the #5 spot and Tooth and Claw takes 8th spot given Image 3 spots this week.  Dc takes 4 Spots and Marvel takes 3 spots. Though Thanos Hulk took 9th spot we were hoping for a bigger push in sales on this Comic.   Over-all we have seen increases on New Issues across the board.  We are also seeing Thursday become the New Wednesday as Box holders seem to want to have a little more freedom from the crowds.

Another down week for sales. Marvel had very little to offer and our top ten reflected it. Angela was Marvel's sole top selling book for the week. I have very little faith it will be in the top ten when issue #2 is released.

DC dominated with Bat-books, Earth2 books, new Secret Six and Green Lantern. Futures End has fallen from the list and I can't see it ever returning.

Angel and Faith and a new #1 for Hellboy gave Dark Horse a good week. Tooth & Claw was the only Image book to come close to the top ten. Alan Moore returning to a monthly book didn't seem to interest many of our customers. Not sure if it was unfamiliarity with Crossed or other reasons.

Over all a kind of blah week.

A near sweep for DC!

Smallest week in new books in a very long time! At least we got a few great titles! Birthright from Image continues to sell like mad here. At this rate we are expecting it to hit Saga numbers soon and that's a big deal. Wolf Moon from Vertigo sold great this week. Tons of people gave it a try. Not much offered from Marvel & DC. Angela: Asgards Assassin #1 , Thanos Vs Hulk #1 and Secret Six #1 all debuted first issues that didn't perform as well as expected at all. The weekly Batman Eternal was the best selling book in our shop from the big 2. That's saying a lot since weekly series by this point have usually fallen to VERY few copies being sold, like NEW 52 FUTURES END. But Eternal is still going strong!

Lots of people looking for first print SPIDER GWEN from Edge of Spider-verse, but they are all settling for a second print since you can't find those first printings anywhere. Really glad Marvel got that out!

Cold weather and the week after Thanksgiving is making this week a slow week. Nothing really blazed out the door with in two days. Hopefully a better week next week.

Kind of a sad week for comics. Nothing even remotely close to selling in triple digits. Image controlled market share with more titles. Expecting bigger numbers next which with more selection being offered.

Spawn back-issues are being chased after. I assume with the anniversary book coming out next month that people are staring to back track to figure what is going on with the book.
