Nintendo And Dragon Age Win Big At The Game Awards (UPDATE)

I'm excited about the future of The Game Awards. I genuinely believe in awards ceremonies and it is fun to see Geoff Keighley try to create the 'video game Oscars' last night. I was fairly impressed with the new re-brand and there is plenty of room to grow. It isn't quite at the level of the BAFTA Game Awards yet, but it was an admirable first stab that seems to have benefited from breaking away from Spike TV.

The biggest winner of the night was Nintendo, not only picking up Developer of the Year, but winning Best Sports/Racing with Mario Kart 8 and Best Fighting game with Super Smash Brothers. They also had that Zelda reveal too, so they're no doubt feeling pretty good right now.

Dragon Age: Inquisition was also a big winner too taking home the big prize, Game of the Year while also picking up a Best Role-Playing Game award to go with it.

As for surprises, there actually weren't too many. I can't find myself disagreeing with many of these. Far Cry 4 as the best shooter is perhaps something I didn't see coming, but I can't get too twisted about it.
