The Bleed – Episode 1: Diving Into Brian Lee O’Malley’s Seconds With Dark Engine’s Ryan Burton

The Bleed is a weekly book club by Bleeding Cool contributors Joseph Schmidt, David Dissanayake, and Erik Grove. The group meets every Wednesday on Google Hangout to discuss news, the latest comics, and the pick of the week. Rest assured, this ain’t your daddy’s book club. Unless your dad was in a book club that exclusively discussed comics, in which case your dad probably kicks ass.

This week, we’re discussing Seconds by Bryan Lee O’Malley.

It’s the first episode of The Bleed, (and by “first”, we mean “this is not a test”) author Ryan Burton and scientist Katie Graves join in the discussion. Burton is the writer of the new Image Comics series, Dark Engine. Graves is a Histology Technician in a Pathology lab (HINT: microscopes!). It was a great time had by all. Dissenting opinions, unique observations, and critical insight into a defining piece of work; WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT? Don’t answer that, please!

And, exclusive to ErikGrove.com (while we’re working out the iTunes submission process for podcasts) we are pleased to introduce you to the downloadable, audio only version for all of your audio listening needs. Maybe you need The Bleed while you’re driving to work or trotting on the treadmill or maybe you’d like the dulcet velvet-y tones of The Bleed to lull you to sleep. There are no judgments here.

Next week we will be joined by Brandon Montclare of the hit Image Comics series Rocket Girl, and Anwar Newton, a stand-up comedian and depraved mushroom eating viral sensation. The group will be discussing the latest news, the week’s best comics, and then the meat and ‘taters: discussing East of West by Jonathan Hickman and Nick Dragotta.
