It looks like things are a-changing in Fox’s X-Men cinematic universe, and it could have everything to do with the mutants’ biggest and baddest foe, Apocalypse. Rob Liefeld seems to be hinting that the studio’s decision to do a film about the ancient villain has put other films in development in the X-universe into disarray and now X-Force, based on his comic book creation, may not even happen at all.
Liefeld answered this in response to a fan via Twitter:
Everything changed when X-Men Apocalypse was announced… RT @actionscomics: @robertliefeld and the movie of x-force? What's new?

Sounds ambiguous enough, and could mean anything, but then he came back with this less positive response to someone else’s speculation that the film had been “shelved” altogether due to X-Men: Apocalypse:
I questioned it, not definitive. but.. CBN RT @cosmicbooknews: X-Force Movie Shelved Because Of X-Men: Apocalypse http://t.co/LNFhdtCnBG

Coin toss I'd wager… RT @theshaTAY: @Meeea @robertliefeld Will there even be an X Force movie?

Could it all come down to Cable, who is integral to both X-Force and Apocalypse? Liefeld is staying mum on whether Cable being needed for Apocalypse is why X-Force is in flux:
I have no idea if Cable will appear in future X-Men films. Hard to believe he won't appear in Apocalypse but I don't expect it.

But don’t lose all hope just yet:
Negativity? Be patient! RT @RyanRocca: So with the negativity around x-force film being made, do you feel DP has a chance? @robertliefeld
