Tuesday Morning Runaround – ComiX'Ollering (UPDATE)

DO YOU REMEMBER THE FIRST CON?

Did you go to the very first comic con? Ethan Roberts is looking for the folks that attended one in New York back in July 27, 1964, fifty years ago, on 4th Avenue and 12th Street at the meeting hall of the Workmen's Circle, a Jewish fraternal organization.

Of interest to comic art collectors was that attendees were given (that's right GIVEN) free pieces of original art – some from DC, some from Marvel, and some from Western Publishing. I wound up with a Tom Gill page from Fury, a comic based on a TV series about a black horse.

Attendees included Len Wein, Steve Ditko, Tom Gill, Flo Steinberg, Phil Seuling, Doug Berman, Bill Thailing, Claude Held, Howard Rogofsky. Bernie Bubnis, Art Tripp, Ron Fradkin, .Marvel intern Dave Twedt and Ethan himself. He is trying to get as many as possible for a reunion at NYCC.

He;s trying to track down the following folk… can you help?

Alex Almaraz, Joe Azzato, Doug Berman, Dave Bibby, Rick Bierman, William Chapp, Thomas Cheung, Carter dePaul, Anthony Fibbio, Margaret Gemignani, Steve Griffin, Karl Gutaurski, Dave Kaler, Steve Keisman, George Kopp, Howard Levine, Phil Liebfred, Bill Mitchell, Mark Nadel, Phil Ressgine, Al Russell, Don Schank, Dave Twedt, Paul Vizcarrondo, Bernie Vollerman, Malcom Willits, Thomas Wilson, Andrew Yanchus

BROKEN CONTINUITY

The new ComiXology iOS App is lacking another feature as well as in-app purchase… after you read a comic, here's a before and after comparison.

The recommendation of which comic to read next in the series or crossover story? Gone…

Of course, that's if you can get your comics to read…

Numerous comic fans have reported on Twitter that the new Comixology app has lost many of their existing purchases. In addition to no longer being able to buy content inside the app, they are no longer able to even read some of the content they already bought!

UPDATE: ComiXology spokesman Chip Mosher writes to say,

Since the launch of the new Comics iOS reader application, there have been reports from a small group of customers who have purchased books from comiXolology that are seemingly not showing up in their account. This problem is occurring because customers have books tied to more than one comiXology account, and/or a separate iTunes account, and/or did not restore their purchases. If you have experienced any of these issues, please contact support@comixology.com and we will be happy to fix the problem.

ACESOLOGY

Maybe David Lloyd will have more luck as he brings his all-star digital comics anthology to ComiXology.

Unveiled this week Aces Weekly volume 10 features the bizarre Dark Utopia by Mark Montague;Dungeons & Burglars by Rodolfo Santullo with art by Jok, translated by Magnus; Parassassin by Jasper Bark, Alfa Robbi, Yel Zamor and Bolt 01; Slash Moron by Jim Hansen, John Burns and Bambos Georgiou: and Batton Lash's The First Gentleman of the Apocalypse, returning for another seven-weeks of episodes.

STAGED HEROICS

Hero: The Musical comes to Sarasota. Brian Sears and Laurie Veldheer lead…

Hero Batowski is a 28-year-old comic book artist who hasn't moved out of his childhood home. He lives vicariously through his art, suppressing his own dreams and reality. Hero's inability to let go of a painful incident from his past is his own kryptonite. When his life takes an unexpected twist, he is forced to evaluate his uncertain future and choose a new path. With a little help from his sidekicks – his wise-cracking cousins, loving dad, and his beautiful high school girlfriend who he thought he had lost forever – he slowly awakens what was there all along: his inner superhero.
