Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has been taking a rather interesting marketing strategy: Very little apes, a lot of behind the scenes looks at the actors all decked out in their mo-cap suits acting like apes. The stills released today via Empire are more of that, this time with more than just Andy Serkis getting in on the action.

Toby Kebbell, who’s been known for his acting, has taken over for stunt guy Christopher Gordon on mo-capping the ape Koba, who we met in Rise of the Planet of the Apes. That’s him in the middle in the image up top.

Judy Greer is another higher profile actor taking on mo-cap duties in the sequel.

Serkis, of course, is still the most recognizable, and judging by the new photos, his Caesar is more receptive to being friendly towards humans (Jason Clarke and Keri Russell). He also offered up some plot details on the sequel:

This is now a community of about 2,000 apes. For the first eight years [after the humanity-devastating virus], the apes were looking down from Muir Woods to San Francisco and could see lights and fires, but now it’s gone very quiet. Until this day in our film when this small band of humans comes up. That’s suddenly a huge, dividing moment in the lives of these apes. There are some particularly strong reactions to the humans and that’s the course of the story.
