Paul Pope's Escapo Is Coming – Heralded By A Dean Haspiel Pin-Up

Z2 Comics (formerly Zip Comics and publisher of Harvey Pekar's Cleveland) is cranking into high gear this Spring with the release of two new graphic novels: both Paul Pope's Escapo and Dean Haspiel's Fear My Dear: A Billy Dogma Experience. Escapo is coming in April and is currently in Previews, and is based on the 1999 book by Pope with the same title, now out of print, but never before seen in color until now. The plot follows the plight of a circus escape artist who faces a duel with Death himself while struggling with obsessive but unrequited love.

Z2 says the new graphic novel will feature more than 50 pages of previously unpublished bonus content, a series of pin-ups by contributing artists, a 2-page alternate ending from the French edition, and all with colors by Shay Plummer.

But to kick things off, Z2 is releasing the pin-up artwork for the book by Brooklyn-based Emmy Award-winning artist Dean Haspiel. Here's his take on Escapo:
