Marvel kicks off Phase 3 of its Cinematic Universe with Ant-Man next July, but it’s also got two more slots reserved in May 2016 and May 2017 for as yet unannounced titles. Well, JoBlo is here with the rumor du jour on what a 2016 Phase 3 film may be.
It’s not Black Panther or Dr. Strange, but rather a sequel to this summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Which is pretty fantastic news for those of us already anticipating how awesome Guardians will be, since it not only means more Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon and Groot and the gang, but also that Kevin Feige and the Marvel bosses must really love what they’re seeing of the James Gunn-directed space romp so far.
It could be taken as bad news for those who have been waiting for real news of Black Panther or Dr. Strange for years now, but don’t worry, JoBlo are quick to add that their source says the Guardians sequel could be set for anytime in 2016, not necessarily the May 6th date already bookmarked, which means another, perhaps first-time solo film, could still pop up on the schedule.
