J. M. Barrie, J. R. R. Tolkein, and now Lewis Carroll. According to Deadline, we are about to learn the motivation for Carroll writing Alice in Wonderland in a new big screen biopic of the 19th Century author.
Queen of Hearts, a 2013 Black List script by Stephanie Shannon, is headed towards production from OddLot Entertainment, who have just attached Seth Gordon – who was just set to direct Uncharted – to direct.
The origin tale is set mostly at Oxford University, where professor Charles Dodgson (aka the future Lewis Carroll) tells fantastical stories to amuse the university’s Dean’s daughters, while falling for his wife. Inevitably, this leads to heartbreak and becomes motivation to put all his stories into writing.
Don’t worry, Uncharted fans, Deadline further reports Gordon’s priority will be that video game adaptation, and Queen of Hearts will film sometime after that.
