delavy

Belgian comics artist Philippe Delaby, passed away suddenly, yesterday, at the age of 53.

Artist on Murena, published in English as Swords of Rome, he initially worked with writer Yves Duval, on a number of comic series and shorts.

Celebrated as one of the greatest modern realist comic artists, Delaby studied academic drawing and oil painting, before working for the Tintin Journal in 1987

But he truly gained commercial and critical success with his Roman historical epic Murena with Jean Dufax, following the life of Emperor Nero, with nine volumes published, the most recent one out last year.

His death has come as a shock to his readers, Delaby posting his final blog only two weeks ago, posting a link to a French television news interview with him – he appears at the end.,.
