Guy Ritchie May Spearhead New King Arthur Fantasy Franchise

Warner Bros have been trying to make a new movie about King Arthur for a while, and got close before pulling the plug on David Dobkin's Arthur & Lancelot, but now they want to give it another go, this time with Guy Ritchie, according to Deadline.

This one is described as a fantasy retelling and is intended to span six films, with Joby Harold having created the concept and written the script for the first film. Ritchie had been developing his own version of the tale, but gave it up when Dobkin's version seemed headed for production first. Instead of resurrecting that version, he's looking to direct Harold's.

No word yet on the angle of this one, but with six films, that's twelve hours of story time, plenty of room to tell the entire rise and fall of Camelot, Lancelot and Guinevere's romance, Arthur's fall by Mordred, Galahad and the search for the Grail, and more.

Yeah, this could be pretty exciting if they do it right. Let's just keep Colin Farrell away, please.
