The cast for The Expendabelles, the female-centric fourth installment of Stallone’s retro-action franchise, has been a long time baking and it’s still not ready.
Interestingly, a couple of the actors pursued for parts in Expendabelles have gone on and taken roles in Night at the Museum 3… instead? Well, maybe they’ll do both, somehow, but I’m not so sure.
First up, there was Rebel Wilson. She was wanted for the role of Stupinsky, the so-called “plus sized Expendabelle,” a shit-hot mall cop recruited by Special Agent Tegan. I think Wilson was being pursued after Melissa McCarthy passed.
Wilson will be appearing in Museum 3 as the night time security guard at The British Museum.
And then there’s Ben Kingsley. Deadline now have him down to appear in Museum 3 as an Egyptian Pharaoh, one of the living displays.
He was on the Expendabelles’ wish list for the main villain, The Sultan. We actually asked Kingsley if he was going to do the film, a few months back, and even then he quite clearly wasn’t. I’ll be intrigued to see who the second choice for an evil Sultan will be…
Other actors put on the shopping list by the producers of The Expendabelles include Alan Rickman, Salma Hayek, Anna Faris, Diane Keaton, Jennifer Garner and most improbably, Jesse Eisenberg. Well – they’re nothing if not ambitious.
