A Comic Show – Telling You Where The Justice League 3000 Comes From

Aaron Haaland of A Comic Shop in Orlando, Florida writes;

Hey Fandom! It's me, Aaron, for A Comic Show talking about new comics now! There were a ton of my favorite DC books out this week, Valiant had Unity #2, Kirkman's Skybound delivered, and Marvel had some Inhuman and mutant mash-ups.

This will probably be one of those weeks where people think I have a DC bias, but it's not my fault they put out a bunch of books I like at the same time. And come January I'll be talking a lot about All-New-Marvel-Now-For-Real-This-Time! The writer's of JLI delivered the goods with Justice League 3000. I enjoyed it, love the banter and bickering among the "can't believe it's not the Justice League" team. If you were thinking about trying this book, do it. Like JLI, I think you'll either really be into it or hate it, and that's worth the first issue risk. Forever Evil had a batch of tie-ins, the best of the bunch is Johns' JL #25. We see Owlman's origin and our Nightwing's choice. Snyder's Zero Year is the origin of Commissioner Gordon's trench coat, seriously. Superman Woman Woman #3 makes it a three way with Zod. And GLC had John punching Hal it the face!

Unity is like what if Conan got and Iron Man suit and the Avengers formed to kick his ass. Walking Dead had a ton of stuff in it I won't spoil, and Dead Body Road is a fun action-crime-revenge book by the guy from Luther Strode.

Marvel put out a few things of note, mostly Inhumans and mutant mash-ups like Awakening and Uncanny X-Men 15.INH. I like how Marvel's taking the comparison between Inhumans and mutants head on here, but I also have reservations. You know, I've seen these things played out before plenty of time, just with mutants. I like the times that the mutant themes are pushed forward (like Morrison's New X-Men and X-Statix), so if this new development pushes the metaphor forward (how the Irish became white style, Wiki it), I'm down.

I hope everyone finds a book they enjoy out of this bunch. I'm getting excited for Black Widow on January 8th, just letting you all know now.
