J.C. Chandor To Write And Direct Vince Lombardi Biopic

Next to get the big screen biopic treatment is legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi, according to Deadline, who report hot director-of-the-moment J.C. Chandor has begun writing and is attached to direct the film.

Legendary, the studio behind Jackie Robinson biopic 42, are behind this one, and have acquired the rights to Eric Simonson’s play Lombardi for Chandor to work from as well. No telling how closely the Margin Call director will stick to Simonson’s take, which followed Lombardi for a week as a reporter tries to find what makes him tic by interviewing various people in his life and flashbacks tell of his underdog story of becoming the Green Bay Packers head coach who led the team to win the first two Super Bowls in the 1960s.

While this is coming together, Chandor will direct his All Is Lost follow-up, A Most Violent Year with Jessica Chastain, early next year, and another competing Lombardi biopic from ESPN with Robert De Niro attached to star is still also in development.
