Vertigo’s iZombie To Become TV Show From Veronica Mars Team‏

Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas and his co-writer on the upcoming Mars movie Diane Ruggiero are developing iZombie as a new series for The CW.

Like Mars, iZombie is a mystery procedural with a young female lead. This time, though, she eats human brains. It’s based on the Vertigo comic by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred.

Here’s how Deadline sum up the main conceit:

a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. But with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories, and with the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.

Well, the mysteries are likely to be good, the character work great and the plotting and dialogue full of fun surprises. One to watch, I think.

So… who to play Gwen Price, our revenant heroine, or her cadre of ghosts and werebuddies? And where will a Paul Rudd guest appearance fit into all of this?
