MIles Teller Is Top Choice To Play Mr. Fantastic, Reed Richards In The New Fantastic Four

miles tellerThe new Fantastic Four are shaping up to be a young bunch. Previous reports have had the 26 year old Michael B. Jordan in the frame as Johnny Storm and the 25 year old Allison Williams as Sue Storm, now the word is that Miles Teller, also 26, is director Josh Trank‘s top pick for Reed Richards.

Trank’s first film, Chronicle, was a teen driven superpowers movie. It adds up that Fox might try to segue him into another.

It’s very encouraging that all three of these names are great performers. If you’re in any doubt about Teller, check out his turn in Rabbit Hole.

Or if you’re in the US, you can see him in The Spectacular Now as of today. That should also convince you that Shailene Woodley, the girl who was and may still be Mary Jane Watson, is a real talent too.

You know, I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if the leak of Teller’s name to The Wrap was timed to buoy interest in the actor on the opening weekend of his biggest role to date.

I’m not worried about a young and juicy line up for The Fantastic Four at all. It’s a new take, sure, but it’s not necessarily a bad one. Let’s wait and see what Trank, screenwriters Jeremy Slater and Seth Grahame Smith are up to.

UPDATE: Seems that everybody is taking a supposed Josh Trank Twitter account on face value. I’m not. And I know The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider has good sources here.
