Universal have now closed a deal to take the sequel to Dumb and Dumber from Warner Bros. This means we'll soon enough see Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels return as the dull duo, apparently embarking on another road trip.

First, though Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly have to finish another rewrite of the script. In the meantime, Universal will have to quickly start scheduling for production, as Carrey and Daniels both have other commitments to be getting on with.

According to Deadline, The Wolf of Wall Street's backers Red Granite have agreed to finance a $35 million budget for the film.

This comes after the news that Warner Bros dropped the picture earlier this month, leaving the Farrelly brothers with option to find a new distributor. And there was clearly no hanging around.

We'll have to wait and see if the slapstick routine will be as much of a success as last time around, or if we've all grown up a bit.
