When Mark Buckingham Helped Make Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer Video

So, I was in the pub last week. So was Mark Buckingham, artist on Fables. And he told me something I'd never known before. That, at the age of 19, he worked at Aardman Animations. As a tea boy and general assistant, but also as Peter Gabriel's stunt double on the sensational Sledgehammer video. This one.

Mark would sit in Gabriel's place while they tried out various animation techniques. And he wielded the sledgehammer that squashes the chicken. As a massive fan of Peter Gabriel, this remains one of his personal career highlights…
