Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Criminal Underworld – Trailer For Snitch

You know your childhood is over when the Rock plays the father of young adults. It's now normal to have a man in his 40s built like the Hulk.

Patrick Dane writes for Bleeding Cool: You know your childhood is definitely over when the Rock starts playing the father of young adults. I suppose it is now normal to have a man in his forties built like the Hulk.*

This new trailer for Snitch, supposedly 'based on true events', shows Dwayne Johnson and Jon Bernthal as two fathers getting involved in Cartel-y, druggy, underworldy happenings in order to save their families.

Thanks to YouTube for the trailer.

Directed by ex-stuntman Ric Roman Waugh, it isn't really a surprise that the film seems to center around manly men doing manly things for manly reasons.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of new ideas in here, but hopefully the film will focus on making the convicted son an interesting character that we can actually invest in. Usually where 'these kinds of films' fall down is having the son type just act as a catalyst for the main character to get involved in the nasty things.

Am I hoping for too much? Probably.

*Brendon's note: I was an adult before there even was a Rock. Patrick not seeing beyond the edges of his own little generation there. Bless.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson In The Criminal Underworld - Trailer For Snitch

Snitch is a 2013 action thriller film directed by Ric Roman Waugh and starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, based on the experiences of DEA informant James Settembrino, released in 2013. The film also stars Barry Pepper, Susan Sarandon, Jon Bernthal, Benjamin Bratt, and Michael Kenneth Williams. The plot focuses on John Matthews, who goes undercover for the DEA after his estranged son Jason Collins is framed in a drug deal by his best friend. Written by Waugh and Justin Haythe, The Snitch was first set up in 2004 by Guy East and Nigel Sinclair, partners at Spitfire Pictures, inspired by a Frontline documentary about how changes to the federal drug policy of the United States encouraged the incarcerated to snitch on their accomplices. In 2011, actor Dwayne Johnson was cast in the film's starring role.
