Another Christmas season approaches, so yet another Call of Duty creeps its way onto millions of games consoles*. Here is a new trailer directed by Guy Ritchie and very briefly starring Robert Downey Jr., that seems to be really trying to sell the multiplayer side of the game.
I remember some earlier trailers were trying to sell the single player on David Goyer's story and Trent Reznor's score, but the marketeers have shifted strategy here, hyping up some pick-up-and-play multiplayer larks.
Well, that felt like shameless pandering. Everything felt like some corporate idea of how to appeal to gamers, like the market research consisted of flicking through the IGN comment sections. Still, it doesn't really matter what trailer they cook up, the Call of Duty brand alone will see this one flying off the shelves.
*Not mine. I am already backed up with games I need to get through.
